MarketPlace Tech Infra Services, a company wholly owned by the Bombay Stock Exchange and Computershare (ASX: CPU), the globe’s largest registrar and employee share plan provider, announce the launch of specialised Shareholder Identification services for listed companies across India.
Thanks to the unique partnership formed between MarketPlace Tech Infra Services and Computershare, companies across India will now be able to better manage their corporate actions, AGMs and EGMs, armed with the latest information on the underlying Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) in their company.
Currently, it is difficult for listed entities to understand exactly who their ultimate FII shareholders are, due to the complex structure of holdings including the difference between publicly available information and the information held directly on the register of shareholders.
The new Shareholder Identification service will provide Indian listed companies with accurate and timely information about their shareholders, including FIIs, enabling them to communicate effectively with them about corporate actions and shareholder meetings and ensuring that they have the right information at the right time.
Speaking at the launch, Shri Ashish kumar Chauhan MD & CEO, BSE said “This Shareholder ID service has been launched in India along with Marketplace Tech Infra Services Pvt. Ltd. (a subsidiary of BSE ) and Computershare. This service will help companies to sharpen their investor relations effort, help them attract global capital flows and develop listed companies’ interactions with their foreign investors. Such initiatives, in a small way, contribute to the larger thrusts by the government to ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skill India’ by strengthening the capital market infrastructure and improving our ability to attract global capital flows”.
James Wong, CEO of Computershare’s business in Asia, said “Clients all around the world are benefitting from our shareholder identification services so it is only right that those in India now also have access to this kind of reporting. We are delighted to be working with MarketPlace Tech Infra Services to provide this opportunity locally.
“Together, we are able to provide critical information to issuers on a regular basis and to help them meet with their largest institutional investors from around the globe, facilitating better outcomes for their corporate actions and shareholder meetings.”
